At ITS Ltd, we know everything there is to know about heat treated pallets. As one of the leading manufacturers here in Northern Ireland, our customers know they are getting the best products possible. From our base in Craigavon, we provide pallets for the whole of Northern Ireland.

We provide standard size, 2 or 4 way entry and made to measure pallets, so we can provide exactly the right pallet for the job. We can supply pallets in bulk, as per your preference. Whether you need pallets for stacking or transporting products, it is important to use only high quality ones. Buying pallets which are manufactured using poor quality wood or which have not been constructed properly could break, thereby causing damage to your goods.

Here are some of the benefits of heat treated pallets:

Export Compliance

The International Phytosanitary Standard for Wood Packaging, otherwise known as ISPM-15, requires that wood packaging be heat-treated before export to foreign countries in order to reduce the risk of pest infestation. These standards were established to minimize the risk that an infested pallet might introduce an invasive species into an ecosystem which can’t support it.  It is important to remember that heat-treating wood allows it to become more resistant to water and to mold and bacteria.

Reduced Weight

Heat treatment takes the moisture out of new wood, which lightens the pallet. When many pallets are being transported at once, the weight savings can add up, resulting in lower fuel usage for loads that cube out and more product in each load for those that weigh out. Heat treatment does not cause a dramatic reduction in weight, but every little helps in terms of transport costs!

Lower risk of mold and bacterial growth

Wood absorbs moisture which can make it a breeding ground for bacteria and mold growth. Mold and bacterial growth on a pallet’s surface can also transfer to the products the pallet carries. Heat-treating causes wood to become more resistant to water and to mold and bacteria, which lowers the risk of product contamination and load rejection related to unsanitary conditions.
